Flippy runs on one No. 1 (D-cell) battery. Use a carbon battery, not alkaline — it lasts longer (5–6 months) and keeps the movement healthy.

Turn the knob on the back to move the minute flaps. Only the minutes set by hand — the hours follow on their own. Set it a minute ahead; the movement takes about a minute to catch up.
